So YEAH! This was a weird weekend. I went to Oakville to be with the Familia and ended up in the middle of a housefire. My parent's neighbour's kitchen caught on fire and it looks like their new stove sparked it! Which means their home insurance may not end up being raised. I told my mom I really missed my life in Oakville. Things were more clear-cut then it seemed. I was living with my partner and we were on our way to a great life, I was in a job that was doing me well for the time being and I was always only a 5 minute drive to my parents if I ever needed anything. I've since moved, I'm single, I'm making more money but have drastically more responsibility fiscally and feel more alone. My best friends are moving out of the area code in a couple months and I feel segregated in my condo now for some reason... oh yeah... it may be that it took my THREE HOURS to get home from work on Thursday partly thanks to the superstorm and partly thanks to the lack of useful bussing in Toronto. Oh well, I'll spruce this place up and sell for higher than what I paid for it! I guess that's the idea in real estate eh? :-D Anywho, on to the dedication. I don't know that I've done this in a while but I'd like to dedicate to ME! No real meaning to why I chose this song. Just that I love it and it sounds great coming out of my speakers! :-D
*****CASCADA - Ready For Love*****
You took a piece of my heart I never thought that this could fall apart You said you fell in love And this was more than I had ever been afraid of Another life Another happy ending cuts like knife Another place, another time Another hand to touch, another sun to shine
You got me deeper than deep and I'm constantly blinded I'm running around but there's no place to hide I start to talk in my sleep, our souls have divided Why can't they forgive me these demons inside Deeper than deep and I'm constantly blinded My heart starts to shiver for I was letting up I start to talk in my sleep, cause our souls have divided How can it be that you're ready for love
Ready for love ...
How can it be that you're ready for love .....
Time will tell A single day had helped me break this spell Don't want to be alone When will I be understood when is my kingdom to come Another boy, another life Another happy ending, and I'll be alive Another place, another time Another hand to touch, another sun to shine

Today I join my former employer (see below)

In mourning the loss of a great voice and a great man.
Jim Paulson - You will be sadly missed. Your enthusiasm made working for barely minimum wage, doable! Your bright smile kept me smiling in the face of an often uncomfortable situation. Your voice made me love AM 740 to this day and keep me addicted to the world of Radio.
Rest In Peace friend.

Anastacia - You'll Never Be Alone
The world is changing and time is spinning fast it's so amazing how you came into my life I know it seems all hope is gone I know you feel you can't be strong and once again the story ends with you and I
And anytime you feel like you just can't go on just hold on to my love and you'll never be alone
Hold on we can make it through the fire and my love I'm forever by your side and you know if you should ever call my name I'll be right there you'll never be alone
Hopeless to describe the way I feel for you no matter how I try words would never do I looked into your eyes to find as long as love is alive there ain't nothing we can't make it through
Anytime, or only for a while don't worry make a wish I'll be there to see you smile oooh
Hold on we can make it throught the fire and my love I'm forever by your side and you know if you should ever call my name I'll be right there you'll never be alone
Through the fire, by your side I will be there for you so I'm, don't you worry (and you know, I'll be there) you'll never be a... alone heya heyeaaaah
Hold on we can make it through the fire and my love I'm forever by your side and you know if you should ever call my name I'll be right there oh baby, hold on
Hold on (we can make it through the fire) we can make it baby and my love said I'm forever by your side, yeah (and you know) if you should ever call my name said I'll be, I'll be right there oh, oh, ooooh
Hold on yeah yeah (we can make it through the fire) yeah yeah oh no (my love) I know, and you know (I'm forever by your side) yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah (and you know) (if you should ever call my name) (I'll be right there)

LISTEN TO THIS SONG! - That's all I have to say on that...
Love To all, J-Mack |
...and perhaps I'm being dramatic (quel surprise there) but thanks to the recognition of Quebec as a 'Nation Within a United Canada' isn't this:

No longer valid? 'The Maple Leaf' was accepted in 1965 as the official design for the new flag of an 'Independant, Unified Canada'. As we are no longer Unified shouldn't the flag be changed???
(I hope you all realise just how much this entry killed me to even THINK let alone write)

**Addendum dated 12-29-06**
I would like to retract this above statement. I wrote in passion of the moment without realising that not much has changed... I love my country and my flag and I apologise if anyone who knows me, for ONE MINUTE thought otherwise. |

...with Gerrard Kennedy. Mr. Kennedy is a Liberal Party Leadership candidate and I think, I want his babies. I'm sure my boyfriend wouldn't be too happy about that comment but right now this is about CANADA! Mr. Kennedy's quote from the front page of the Toronto Star today, which I agree with 100%, is as follows:
"I respect the sense of identity shared by many Quebecers, reflecting the common culture, language, history and accomplishment and I will continue to promote that identity, rather than play divisive political games with it." - Gerrard Kennedy on the Conservative motion to recognise Quebec as 'A nation within a united Canada'
I... wow. I do find it amusing that the Bloc Leader Gilles Duceppe is GOING ALONG with the Conservative motion. I'm reading about M. Duceppe this morning thinking, one reason Quebec is so upset is actionts of? Anyone? Riiiight BRIAN MULRONEY and the CONSERVATIVES... The glorious idiots we have to thank for such things as the airbus bullshit, GST and a VERY fractured relationship with La Belle Province (see: Meech Lake Accord). Thank you you f**king imbiciles. I'm the first one to give a new Government a chance but as soon as one government gets in and starts to change laws voted on and passed by the LAST government I start to question their motives. WHY DON'T WE HOLD OUR POLITICIANS ACCOUNTABLE????
So now the Bloc is aligning with this 'Reformed' (no pun intended) Conservative Party? Sad, when the separatists trust the Government more than I do eh? A Star columnist wrote about this unlikely alliance saying that it will be a blow to Sovereigntist movement. Think about it! What leg would ANY separatist have to stand on if this bullshit passes? "Well M. Traitor you ARE your own country so sit down and stop whining."
I've engage almost everyone I know on this topic. One point of view I heard which spoke to me was that Harper is calling the traitors... er... I have to stop calling them that - separatists on their bluff. If they get their own country, A) they'll have nothing to whine about so they'll be able to actually ACT on their distincness which we all recognize by being themselves and B) See previous attempts at said 'Nation inside Union' thing...
Case Study A - Scotland,
Not to knock my own heritage but since it's legal recognition as a nation within a union, it's decended to the lowest quality of life among Westernised Countries and has one of the worst crime rates in Europe.
Case Study B - Catalonia,
A province of Spain which 'seceded to union in union status'. Art, philosophy and unique culture are all powerhouses of this province and it's Capital, Barcelona. Sadly most Spanish philosophising is done outside the borders of this newly formed nation. As well, though recognized by the EU, Catalonia is mostly laughed at when its leaders show for "big boy" meetings.
So shall we open now Case Study C - Quebec? I really hope not but being that it's a Tory Government in, you can BET they won't do what's best for Canada.

So Quebec will officially become a "Nation within a United Canada".
One can look at this one of two ways.
1 - Everything will be honkey dorey and Canada will exist much like The United Kingdom, a Country of four Nations.
OR
2 - We're F**KED!
Personally I believe this is the beginning of the end for our glorious nation. There has never been a strong bond of comradory that held Canada together through thick and thin. FEAR made Canada a nation. Fear of American advancement. Now fear that one group, of whiney little bitches who don't realise the rest of us RECOGNISE their distinct attributes, might get upset is going to tear us apart.
I never thought I'd say this but I put my faith in the Prime Minister (wow does that leave a bad taste in my mouth) to do what he knows is right. If Quebec will be a nation inside a united Canada, so be it. I dislike it but then again, I wasn't the one who was in parliament who f**ked up when the separatist movement asked for much due attention way back when.

| » A post about today... |
So yeah,
Saturday night I was in Woodstock, Ontario for the Buck & Doe for the very first girlfriend I ever had. She's all growed up and looks great. She and her fiancee are such an adorable couple. I won a DVD player in the raffle as well! I did have a few too many Sour Puss shooters... that's probably because they were $2. Oh well. I had a blast even if I did... uh... 'bring up' so to speak! :-(
Last night Nicole, Crystal, Ashley and I went out to the Dixie Chicks movie "Shut Up & Sing". Based on the reaction of the American country music fanbase to the "We're not proud that the President is from Texas" comment made in London, England. Personally I LOVED the movie. They said "We've sold out Toronto. Perhaps we should play more dates in Canada." Then someone piped up and said "Yeah, lets play everywhere in Canada that has a hockey arena." They all laughed which is good becuase I think they realised the sheer size of a tour that big. The wee town of Embro, Ontario has a hockey arena. The town of Woodstock, Ontario (where I grew up) has three! Either way I have to say that I have the utmost respect for the Chicks after watching both sides of what they went through. People thought they hated the troops, something dangerous to think in the USA. They don't! They never said that! They said they don't like the President... as usual the idiot conservative media blew their words WAY out of proportion. Meh. They've recovered, they had the #1 album on the Billboard Charts when it was released and the single "Not Ready To Make Nice" has had increased airplay since Bushy has fallen from grace! - YOU GO GIRLS!
Today is Municipal Election Day for most of the Province of Ontario. I get to decide who's going to run the Largest city North of the Border. Personally I like David Miller. He's active in all facets of city life, he LOVES pride and usually goes in drag for it, he's a huge supporter of the underdog and strives for equality among not only the sexes but every minority group as well. He's civic minded and I thihk he's been a good Mayor up to now. I wish he'd expand the subway a bit more but the TTC is still an independent company FUNDED by the city so perhaps they should look around for funding on TOP of waiting for Toronto to approve funds. I'm excited to vote. This is what our grandpas fought for those many years ago. If you have a municipal election in your area today, go out and exercise your right to have your voice heard - V O T E !!!
Oh yeah an apparently Quebec thinks they're a country now. I have the utmost of respect and admiration for The Quebecois but COME ON! You are a unique, distinct Province of a unique distinct Country. Canada would not be Canada without you, end of story!

| » LEST WE FORGET |
This is the day when we solemnly bow our heads, regardless of religious afiliation, in thanks and reverance for those who fought and those who died to keep us free of tyranny. Today is the day we as Canadians should thank our veterans, our soldiers and our allies. Look around you... Look out your window... Look at your friends, family or loved ones. What you are seeing would have been lost if not for those we remember today. Thank those you know who were there for you before you were even here...
(The National War Memorial - Ottawa, Ontario, Canada)
Thank you Grandpa, both of you. I have a glorious country, I'm happy successful and free and I owe it all to you. God bless you and God rest your souls.

IN FLANDERS FIELDS the poppies blow Between the crosses row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields.

Happy Surprise Birthday to Dorian!
If you weren't there, YOU SHOULD HAVE SEEN HIS FACE! We scared the CRAP out of him. It was great. He was all giddy and excited to see everyone. A great party for sure.
The weekend went well other than that as well. I added the new Roxette 20 Greatest to my cd collection along with P!nk's Misundaztood. Both great albums. Ashley and I had a wee date on Friday night and I think it went rather well... breakfast was good! ;-)
Sunday, Nicole & Crystal and I went to see Marie-Antoinette. More of a docudrama than a feature film. Such are most things from Sofia Coppola! We dined at the Spring Rolls @ Yonge & Eg then headed our ways. I was exhausted.
I'm in my new roll as "Shift Supervisor" now. People have been kind, thus far. I hope it stays this way but we ARE coming in to Christmas season... Oy!
Other than that, all is well.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! Love et al,
J-Mack
